Does the Bugatti Veyron really have the fastest acceleration in a car?

I read that the Porsche 917 has a 1100 bhp and accelerates from 0 to 60 in 2.1 sec.|||Yes it is. It is also the fastest car in the world as well. It is better than the F1 in many ways too.|||The Veyron is the fastest acccel car on the road. Their are track cars that are much faster, but you cant drive them on the street. 917 is not a road legal car.|||probably one of the fastest if not the fastest. There's also the Enzo Ferrari, Hennesey Viper, Callaway Corvette, and etc that come close I think.|||Do you think any car can accelerate 0- 60 in 2.1 sec, that not right. Porsche 917 accelerators 0-60 mph : 2.7 seconds 0-100mph : 5.5 secs and it is in track condition, because it is a 24Hr Le Man.

I can't imagine how stupid someone can be, the same someone who said, "Their are track cars that are much faster, but you cant drive them on the street. 917 is not a road legal car." lol....

Actually you have the misconception of fastest accelerating car with the car with highest top speed (but Bugatti Veyron 16.4 is not currently the car with highest top speed in the world, its Chrysler me 4-12).

For me the fastest car is not the one with highest top speed, the one which handle very well at high speed and at tight turns, accelerates good but not at 2.1sec, which has the best streamline, which is absolutely brutal in performance, which has the best grunt.|||That Porsche is a tuned up version, not a production car made by Porsche. The Bugatti is currently the fastest accelerating production car. 0-60 in 2.4 s.|||In road legal terms the Bugatti has it hands down. 1001hp will do that kind of damage especially in something with AWD. It was in Motortrend magazine when they tested it's acceleration. 2.7sec 0-60, 0-100 in 5.6sec. With the topspeed of 253mph. For the low low price of 1.2mil. Just joking on the price though. Would be fun to take on a test drive though.
