If 1001hp bugatti veyron is street legal, what does it take for a car to be illegal for street driving.?

0-60 in 2.5 seconds, no cop can catch that!|||I don't think that a car that runs out of fuel in 12 minutes is much of a worry. Although, you do have an interesting question. A car can easily be illegal with certain mods. In my state, that mod can be as simple as an aftermarket muffler. Good old Massachusetts.|||For a car to be legal, it has to meet minimum emission and safety standards, which have nothing to do with performance.

What do you think, we should ban cars because they are fast?

Police cars are generally slow, and can't catch most sports cars made today - by themselves. But they have radios, other cops, helicopters, they'll catch you. It would be even easier to catch a Veyron since it doesn't exactly blend in with other cars, and there are probably only a handful in any state, except maybe California.

Personally - I'll take a Saleen S7 twin turbo over the Veyron, almost as fast but cooler looking.
