I mean the bugatti veyron has 16 cylinders, all wheel drive and 4 turbochargers. I mean I know the ssc has a supercharger but how did they make a v8 so much faster than a 16?|||The Bugatti Veyron is rather luxurious, and with its huge engine and level of refinement it weighs 4162lbs
The SSC UA weighs 2750lbs because of it doesn't have alot of the luxuries like all wheel drive and has half the cylinders, less displacement and etc. It still has 1183hp where as I believe the Bugatti isn't as heavily tuned boost wise so it "only" makes 987hp.
Overall if you look at it the Bugatti is a better car but just because a car is better all around doesn't mean it can't lose. Take a top fuel dragster for example, you wouldn't want to drive one around town but they sure are fast on the strip. The Aero is a lean green speed machine where the Bugatti is an insanely refined car for extremely rich people who want to be able to flaunt their money. The Bugatti will beat a UA to 60mph incase you don't know, again thanks to it's all wheel drive (which doesn't do squat for top speed).|||The SSC Aero is a much lighter car, but it still amazes me that it takes the SSC Aero has to be lighter, with almost no luxuries, to be 3 mph faster than the Bugatti Veyron, which packs so much luxury and style into an extremely heavy car that can still do 250 mph. Anyway, yeah, it's because the Aero is pretty much stripped, so it's very light with a very powerful engine = world's fastest car.|||size of engine does not really matter.
There are some 4 cylinders faster than some V12's.
It all depends on weight, aerodynamics, HP, and torque.
Not size of engine.
SSC goes 3mph faster than heavier Bugatti, but Bugatti accelerates better and handles better with AWD.
