How does the engine in the Bugatti Veyron have less hp than the SSC ultimate aero's?

The engine in the Bugatti Veyron is a "w16'',literally two times the size of the v8 in the Ultimate Aero.each one of the Bugatti's engines is twin turbo charged. The Aero only has one twin turbo charged v8.|||Size, and number of cylinders, are two different things. The Bugatti has an 8.0 liter 488 cubic inch W-16 motor. The Ultimate Aero has a 6.4 l 387 cubic inch V-8. This means that the W-16 is not even close to twice the displacement of the Ultimate Aero's V-8.

Given your confusion about this you would most likely not understand the hundreds of factors that go into an engines power output, but a very simple answer is that the Ultimate Aero was built for a higher power output. You can rest assured that most likely the two have very different compromises. While the Buggati is aimed at the purest luxury and refinement possible for such a car, the Aero is most likely making compromises for its unequaled speed numbers.
